Greeks wear black to mourn a loved one for 40 days or much longer.   I noticed growing up that because of this strong connection in our traditions  you often see it worn all over the mainland and the islands.  The younger generations, including myself are drawn to black and all that it holds within its onix hue. Now worn not only to mourn but also to celebrate life.
